When real estate is discussed: the French case

It can happen every day to find luxurious structures for sale. Maybe even of historical interest. Like a castle. And it may also happen that these real estate jewels are put up for auction and then sold at exorbitant prices. All normal, therefore. But there is a however. In this simple and logical reasoning, we have left out a detail. The one relating to those who are partially involved in this choice. The surrounding community. Today, dear readers, we are going to tell you about a case that is really causing discussion. The one relating to the sale of a historic castle in France which aroused profound discontent in the municipality of reference. Why ? If you are curious to know more, we can therefore inaugurate our mini column today! Let's start!

The castle in question is that of Pontchartrain, which dominates near Versailles. Already from this small detail you can guess the beauty and splendor enjoyed by this structure. Well, the sale of the property has generated perplexity and discontent, as the surrounding environment, according to the inhabitants, risks becoming a '' dormitory city ''. The project for which the castle is intended is truly ambitious. With a budget of around 35 million euros, 41 apartments of various kinds will be obtained, many of which have already been '' booked '' for a cost of around 353,000 euros each. The destination area is in the Parisian region of Île-de-France, already famous for the presence, in addition to the capital, of numerous other natural and historical scenarios of undisputed beauty. But the inhabitants of Pontchartrain, who reach the 3,500 mark, did not take this decision willingly.

This is because the limit reached so far in terms of population density, leads the town to be qualified as a '' rural community ''. It is therefore understood how a similar project, in addition to defacing the wonderful environment in which the castle is located, can also undermine the typical identity of the place. In short, the population wants at all costs to prevent the smiling reality from turning into a massive urbanization center. According to the estimated data, in fact, the threshold of 3,500 inhabitants would be completely exceeded in a short time, reaching 15,000. Furthermore, there would be no lack of urban redevelopment interventions to accommodate and manage a decidedly higher and heavier traffic. Especially for an environment so distant from what are the typical dictates and prerogatives of a metropolitan agglomeration. But that is not all. If it already surprises you how a decision belonging to the world of real estate can convey and alter popular thinking, you will be stunned by the following news.

The local association for the protection of the rural environment and biodiversity (Acserb), has requested that the project be reviewed, reanalyzed and has already made three appeals against urban densification without limits, with the addition of a letter to the Ministry of Culture. The initiatives required are aimed at eliminating any risk of privatization of the castle in the first place. Secondly, to organize a tourist line that can include the castle in the general mapping of the most popular destinations.
Who knows how it will end ... you will find out only by staying updated on our portal!
