The green revolution for skyscrapers opens in New York!
Ten bills of law related to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions were applied unanimously. Thus began one of the most modern chapters dedicated to environmental protection for the Big Apple. One of the signs that undoubtedly emphasizes how important this issue is, but above all how, the real estate market itself, can be closely influenced by social changes.
The program was baptized as ‘’ Green New Deal ‘’, signed by the mayor who underlined the benefits deriving from this new perspective both for the environment but also for the real estate market itself.
Let's go into detail to understand how it is possible to combine the interest for sustainability and the possibility of re-launching a fundamental sector for a Big City like New York.
According to the first citizen himself, this need arises from the awareness that climate change poses a considerable threat to large cities, given the presence of an extremely high number of skyscrapers and structures of a certain caliber.
Reason for which, it is fundamental to transform those that could be of the disadvantages, in points of strength. The goal is indeed to convert buildings into a 'sustainable and green optic, thus reducing emissions. According to statistical data related to the post-reform forecasts, after the application of the same, the result will be equivalent to the elimination of about one million cars from the roads and the related advantages on health and general health. All by 2030.
The economic aspect is not excluded, indeed. The initiative will include both the new but also the old building, guaranteeing new areas destined for both coworking but also for residential structures or offices that will bring as many as 27,000 new uses of the same and 23,900 new jobs. Exorbitant and at the same time reassuring figures, if we consider how, one of the most famous cities in the world can really make a difference both in environmental matters but above all in real estate.
In detail, it is worth underlining the concrete applications of this initiative on the so-called "dirty buildings". With this terminology reference is made to all those structures with dimensions greater than 25,000 square feet which, although they represent only 2% of the urban construction, are burdensome for environmental protection. They will therefore be subject to cuts (relating to emissions) equal to 80%, through modifications and sanctions for those who do not respect the dictates of the new reform.
The new types of buildings will undoubtedly be more flexible in terms of subsequent changes and based on energy-saving systems using cutting-edge technologies and materials readily available in nature.
A perfect mix between protecting the surrounding environment, sustainability for future generations and a market that is always subjected to a strong demand of various kinds.
What can we say, it is hoped that the Big Apple can continue to set a good example and become increasingly "green"!
